Geneva International Motor Show: from 6 to 16 March 2014 - The 83rd International Motor Show held in Geneva this spring attracted some 690,000 car fanatics. According to an independent survey carried out on 1,034 visitors, most were enthusiastic working males who love cars and regularly attend the event. The 84th Geneva Motor Show will take place between 6 and 16 March 2014, and the event's organisers have just opened up registration to would-be exhibitors.
In 2013, around 690,000 visitors streamed to the International Motor Show in Geneva. Survey findings revealed that more than 24% of respondents said they had come to find out about the latest car models; 15% said they were keen to find out about new technologies and advances; and nearly 17% said they were just massive car fans.
7% of visitors said they had come to help them decide about their next car purchase, and 77.4% of those expressed the intention of buying a new vehicle within this year. The key criteria they listed as determining their choice were the car's price, look and level of comfort, in that order.
However, visitors also viewed a visit to the Motor Show as a great day out, with 20% of them simply looking for a good day out. Around 26% of visitors claimed to be regulars, having already attended 10 or more editions of the event; only 25% said this was their first visit.
The typical visitor is male (86%) and between 25 and 54 years of age (65.5%). Just over half the visitors were Swiss (55.2%); most of the rest came from Switzerland's neighbours (France 32%, Germany 2.1%, Italy 2.3%) or elsewhere in Europe (6.9%).
The show's organisers have just opened up registration for next year's event. Exhibitors can already order a free information pack from the General Secretariat of the International Motor Show (email@example.com) and then register directly online. The cut-off date for registrations has been set as 15 July 2013.
Stands will be allocated by September 2013, when exhibitors will receive the final confirmation of the space they required. "We are confident that the 110,000 m2 of space in the venue's 7 exhibition halls will once again be full", said Maurice Turrettini, President of the Geneva Motor Show (GMS).
The GMS is the only annual international motor show recognised by the International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) to take place in Europe. It is also one of the top 5 events of its kind in the world. The 84th edition of the GMS will be held at Geneva's Palexpo exhibition centre from 6 to 16 March 2014.
