    06.02.2012     82nd Geneva Motor Show: A highly promising event is being prepared!

    With only five weeks to go until the opening of this year’s Geneva International Motor Show, the automobile world is now in the “starting blocks”. 260 exhibitors are preparing to present their latest new models. There will be some 70 press conferences on the programme during the two press days before the public opening. In the meantime the stands are being constructed and decorated, with more than 3,000 persons involved in producing the structural, technical and artistic creations required for this epic event. The Show will be open to the public from March 8-18, 2012.


    The 260 exhibitors at this year’s Motor Show will include all of the world’s major automobile manufacturers, a large group of high level preparation specialists, and all of the top automotive designers.  In addition, an entire hall will be dedicated to the major furnishers of automotive accessories and special equipment. All together they will occupy the entire exhibition space available in the 7 halls of Palexpo, i.e. 110’000 square meters.

    From mid-February, Palexpo will be transformed into a virtual “bee hive” of activity to transform all of the empty exhibition halls into the Geneva International Motor Show.  This will require more than 3.000 persons from different trades and professions such as decorators, carpenters, joiners, painters, metal workers, mechanics, electrician, carpet layers, etc. to provide their best efforts, using more that a half-million cubic meters of materials and merchandise, to build and decorate the impressive stands that will best present the products of the exhibitors and to dazzle the visitors.

    These stands will compete with each other for ingenuity and attractiveness in order to best present the latest technologies in their sectors.  “We have seen wonderful projects in their planning and look forward to seeing them in reality.” Mr. Andre Hefti, Managing Director of the event has explained.

    This is the vital a first phase:  the construction of a magnificent « jewel box » that will await the arrival of the automobiles to be presented within it.

    The exhibitors have already announced a total of 70 press conferences to present their world or European premiers.  The 82nd Geneva International Motor Show will be open to the public from March 8-18, 2012.
