In his speech, Mr. Ueli Maurer emphasized the key role and influence of the automobile on both the economy and on society in general. Following that, Mr. Charles Beer, President of the Council of the State of Geneva underlined the importance of the automobile industry, especially in the creation of employment. Mr. Maurice Turrettini, President of the Geneva Motor Show vigorously supported the initiative of the Association of Swiss Car Importers “auto-schweiz” that requires political authorities to devote the tax revenues generated by their industry to the development of road and highway infrastructures. During his visit to the stands the President of the Swiss Confederation shook many hands and displayed remarkable enthusiasm and energy.
