The fusion of the Fiat group with Chrysler resulted in a coordination of their model ranges. This makes the Fiat Freemont the successor of the Fiat Ulysse and the sister of the Dodge Journey, since the Dodge brand is no longer commercialized in Europe. The Freemont was first presented as a world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011.
