The FIA World Touring Car Championship kicks off in Monza on March 11th, for an 8th season !

The WTCC, one of the most spectacular and fastest growing motorsports series, will be starting in Italy with a grid of 22 cars. In the past seven years, the WTCC established some new records, consolidating its position alongside the other FIA World Championships as well as increasing its popularity worldwide.

Entering its eighth season in 2012, the WTCC is ready for another thrilling year conquering a new frontier with the event in Sonoma, California near San Francisco.

The 2012 FIA WTCC will be visiting twelve different countries over four continents, from Europe to Africa before moving to the Americas and ending with three events in Asia.

The big challenge for the drivers in 2012 is dethroning Yvan Muller who won two back-to-back titles for Chevrolet in 2010 and 2011, giving the GM Group a second Manufacturers’ Championship and clinching his third Drivers’ Championship. A fight led by Muller’s own team-mates, Alain Menu and the 2011 vice-champion Rob Huff.

Competition on track is due to be even more exciting this year, with the arrival of Team AON that bring Ford’s brand back to the championship for the first time after 2005, with one of their new Global Focus cars in the hands of young talented British driver Tom Chilton.

WTCC is all about Real Cars. Real Racing.
