18.03.2012 The 82nd Geneva International Motor Show: Objectives achieved!
The Geneva International Motor Show closed its doors Sunday evening after 10 days open to the public. The managers from the exhibiting constructors confirmed that this 82nd edition of the Motor Show was a terrific success with the presentation of some 150 World and European premiers, and were happy that their brands enjoyed the extensive international visibility that they have come to expect from this event, which was relayed by the 11,680 journalists attending from more than 80 countries. The 702,014 visitors benefited from a more comfortable Motor Show experience thanks to an increase in the number of parking spaces available, better sign posting, and the outstanding cooperation and efforts from the Police, the CFF (national railways) and TPG (local public transport company). The Green Test Drives allowed more than 10,000 visitors to test drive a large selection of ecological vehicles. The Geneva International Motor Show 2013 will take place from March 7-17, 2013.
After the first weekend the number of visitors exceeded the record set in the same period last year. However, the spring-like weather that followed resulted in a slight contraction of the final number of visitors (-4.76%). On the other hand, the 702,014 visitors enjoyed a much improved experience in terms of the increased parking available, the reduced waiting time to buy entry tickets, and the improved circulation in the exhibition halls that enhanced their access to the stands.
The Green Pavilion and Green Test Drives were located this year in the park facing the main entrance to the Motor Show and proved to be a great success. More than 10,000 test drives were undertaken by the visiting public who were able to actually drive a selection of future ecological vehicles. This enthusiastic popularity demonstrated the strong public interest in new ecological technologies and helped them to discover the pleasure they can have in driving low-emission vehicles
Next year the Geneva International Motor Show will take place from March 7-17, 2013 and will benefit from an expansion of the display place available. Therefore the Show will be even larger and the organisers will be doing everything possible to make it even more efficient and even more attractive.
