It looks like Lamborghini may preview a future grand tourer at the upcoming Genvea Motor Show in addition to a new Aventador variant billed as the company’s fastest model ever.

According to a new report, Lamborghini is planning a separate concept car for the Geneva show.

Citing the automaker’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann,  Edmunds reports that the concept will feature Lamborghini’s V-12 engine but it won’t be based on the Aventador’s mid-engine platform.

Instead, the engine is expected to be mounted up front. The concept will still feature two doors and two seats, meaning it’s likely to be a sporty new GT coupe similar to Ferrari’s F12 Berlinetta and Aston Martin’s Vanquish.

The vehicle could possibly feature a version of the MSB platform being developed for the next-generation Porsche Panamera, which is also expected to spawn its own two-door model in the vein of the original 928.

This ties in with Winkelmann’s previous comments that Lamborghini was planning a “one-off” vehicle to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. The new Aventador variant, also due at Geneva, will be produced in limited numbers.  

Lamborghini has also stated in the past that it only develops concepts for vehicles it has the intention of building, though final approval always comes down to its parent company.

Winkelmann also said that the new concept isn’t an alternative to the Urus, and that everyone at Lamborghini is still keen to produce the SUV. Production plans for the Urus have been delayed as management takes its time to determine whether to give it the green light.
