A noisy, bucking diesel engine often indicates problems with the air intake and cleaning the intake can help avoid the cost of replacing engine parts. A forerunner in the additives market, automotive chemicals specialist LIQUI MOLY is now offering a dedicated service product for this very purpose in the shape of its new air intake system cleaner.

The active solution eliminates the kind of dirt and deposits that accumulate around the air intake, including oil, resins and soot. This cleaner is capable of blasting through build-ups in the throttle ducts and inner parts thanks to its special formulation and, in particular, to the design of the can. Its narrow, flexible spray tube enables extra-long spray projection up to 60 cm.
This cleaner gets the engine's moving parts back into full working order. In this way, it prevents damage to the diesel engine and makes it more reliable. A clean air intake simultaneously reduces fuel consumption by enabling smooth engine operation.

In high demand
A throttle valve cleaner for petrol engines has been available from LIQUI MOLY for a number of years – and is in high demand. In fact, this product was such a success that repair shops began to make inquiries about a similar product for diesel engines. As Uwe Krügel, head of the laboratory at LIQUI MOLY, explains: “Comparable problems with contaminants occur in diesel engines also. However, a dedicated solution for this engine type was required. And that's exactly what we've developed.”

Krügel recommends “cleaning each time the engine is serviced, as a precaution to avoid the build-up of stubborn deposits and allow the engine to run as smoothly as possible”. An added benefit of this product is that the engine doesn't need to be taken apart for cleaning. This quick and easy-to-use air intake system cleaner is also very cost-effective. The product is suitable for use on vehicles with an exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve) and diesel particulate filter (DPF).
